Parenting In The Pew: Guiding Your Children Into the Joy of Worship
Robbie Castleman
"Daddy, I'd like you to meet my children."
That's Robbie Castleman's attitude about taking her children to church. She believes that Sunday morning isn't a success if she has only managed to keep the kids quiet. And she knows there's more to church for kids than trying out their new coloring books. Children are at church for the same reason as their parents: for the privilege of worshiping God.Worship, Castleman writes, is "the most important thing you can ever train your child to do." So with infectious passion, nitty-gritty advice and a touch of humor, she shows you how to help your children (from toddlers to teenagers) enter into worship. In this expanded edition Castleman includes two new appendixes on the important issues of hyperactive children in worship and children's church for seekers. She also provides a study guide for personal reflection or group discussion. More than ever, Parenting in the Pew is essential reading for parents and worship leaders who want to help children make joyful noises unto the Lord.

The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name
Sally Lloyd-Jones
"Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 11:18-19
While including many of the most prominent "stories" from the Bible, it is written to reflect how God's word is cohesive from beginning to end. Through the old testament, special care is taken to point our prophesy an dpromise of a "Forever King," who is then introduced and shwon through the new testament in the fullness of Jesus. This is primarily a story book, and it is presented as "God story" with actual scripture woven into the literature. On this note, most scripture is translated for a younger audience comparable to a child's version of "The Message," where language is more conversational - though meaning and truth are not sacrificed.
In our nursery curriculum at The Table, we often use the Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name for lessons. Many people have commented at the refreshing presentation of scripture and holistic approach tothe Bible. The illustrations, too, have been the source of many compliments; the pictures are beautiful, telling the stories in and of themselves. They also present an authentic view of the diverse people, place, and situations described in God's word. This is a wonderful resource for parents and ministries devoted to teaching God's word to children.
