All Church Camping Trip

ALL CHURCH CAMPING TRIP
JULY 11-13, 2008

Are you ready for FUN...FELLOWSHIP...STAR GAZING...CAMP FIRES...WORSHIP &  MORE?  Then come to the all-church camping trip at Deschutes River Recreational Area! 

CAMPGROUND
The campground is located 100 miles east of Portland off I-84.  We have reserved four large group campsites.  These are primitive sites, so no camper/trailer hook-up.  Sorry, no showers!  But, there is running water and a river that is swimmer friendly!  www.oregonstateparks.org/park 

COST
Cost is $10 per adult - kids come free!

MEALS
Everyone will be responsible for providing their own meals.  There are a couple of fire pits at each site to use for cooking.  If you are interested in sharing a meal with a few other people on Saturday night, please include that in your registration information.

STUFF TO DO
In addition to hiking, biking and swimming there will be several group activities planned...3-legged whiffle ball, volleyball and a scavenger hunt for the kids! 

How about some fresh baked cookies?  Nathan and Emily King will teach you how to build a box oven with just a few materials.  If you'd like to learn how, please bring the following items:  1 box (The box needs a lid or good flaps to make a lid.  The box needs to be big enough to hold what you plan to cook (including pan) plus and extra 8"-14" air space above cooking item. Charcoal briquets, lighter fluid, aluminum foil and tape.  If you want to bake cookies, the ready made cookie dough works well.

There will be some morning prayer times, as well as a Saturday evening worship time.

DIRECTIONS
We encourage you to carpool, as we are limited to 10 vehicles per group site.  If you are interested in a carpool/caravan leaving from a designated point in Portland, please indicate that in your registration information.

  • Take 1-84 East from Portland.
  • Travel 12 miles east of The Dalles to the Deschutes State Recreation Area exit (#97 Biggs Rufus Hwy.)
  • Continue eastbound 4 miles, cross the Deschutes River Bridge.
  • The park is the first right after the bridge.
  • Follow the signs to the Group Sites.
