What's The Table About?

Many times, people’s first question about a church is “What will it be like?” or  “What will it do?” The American church today is often guilty of operating out of this spirit of pragmatism: asking the question “What works?” before asking the question “What is true?” The result is doing “church” for church’s sake as opposed to being the church as a result of  the call and will of God.

At The Table, we don’t want to do things just to do them. We don’t want to do things in a certain way just because they’ve been done that way in the past. And we certainly don’t want to do things based on the whims, opinions, or desires of people and miss the heart of God in the process. On the following pages you can find The Table's Mission, Message, Values, Vision and an explanation of our Name.

The Church, and by that we mean all churches of all times in all places, exists for a singular purpose - to make disciples of all peoples in all places. Each local expression of The Church will go about this purpose in unique ways. (Our Mission)

We will start with the gospel in order to clearly understand the will of God for the church. (Our Message)

From a clear understanding of the gospel we should adopt Biblical values into our lives that will become the driving force behind how we do ministry.  (Our  Values)

With a Biblical understanding of how ministry is to be done from our values, we gain a vision that is God-honoring and gospel-centric. (Our Vision)

Lastly, many people wonder why we would name a church The Table. (Our Name)
